Who I am and where I’ve been.
I graduated from The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with a BFA in Graphic Design. Although my training was mostly focused on designing for print, I have now found myself designing for the web. After working as a designer at NetSource Technologies in sunny Florida for 3 years, I am now in San Francisco, working as a UX Designer for Socialcast.
I am married to Eric Heikkinen, who I met at college, and motivated me to learn about web design. He is also the founder of the content management system, Pligg, and a super talented photographer.
The story behind Distie.
When I was very little, I had trouble saying my own name. I started calling myself Distie instead of Christie, and the name has followed me into adulthood—despite my perfect pronunciation today!
